Gary Brown was an American football player. He was a running back for three teams in the National Football League for eight seasons from 1991 to 1999. He played college football at Penn State and was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the eighth round of the 1991 NFL Draft. He was also a running back coach at the University of Wisconsin.

Gary Brown had multiple cancer attacks. The diagnosis was made in 2020 when a tumor was found near his bile duct. It was also found around his pancreas. About ten years earlier he had already fought colon and liver cancer. Eventually they had to transfer him to a hospice. He was in hospice in his hometown of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, struggling with multiple health issues. His health had forced him to resign from coaching. He died on April 10, 2022. He has three children. His cause of death is not yet known.
