Ulcerated Elden Ring of the Tree Spirit
Elden Ring’s optional bosses allow players to test their skills and determination while also earning prizes if they succeed. These glorified enemies aren’t essential to progressing through the game, but they do provide a good challenge. In fact, many of the Elden Ring’s optional bosses, like the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, are more challenging than the game’s main bosses.
Ulcerated Tree Spirit from Elden Ring is a boss. Mt.Gelmir is home to the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, which resembles a corrupted and disfigured tree. It is not necessary to fight this boss to progress in Elden Ring. However, this rewards you with useful items and runes.

How to defeat Ulcerated Tree Spirit?
The Ulcerated Tree Spirit appears as a massive, lumbering, snail-like monster with arms protruding from its torso and a gaping maw ready to devour you whole.
The Ulcerated Tree Spirit’s lips suddenly lighting up bright yellow, indicating he’s about to unleash one of numerous attacks, is the main attack to watch out for in this encounter.
If the boss doesn’t move after his mouth starts to glow, he’s ready to unleash a massive area of effect damage onto the ground right in front of him.
This is your cue to backtrack or, if you think you can make it in time, sprint around the boss to land some hits while he’s busy.
On the other hand, if the boss’ mouth bursts into flames and flinches, prepare to escape. If you don’t duck out of the way at the last second, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit will collect you in its mouth and deal you massive elemental damage.
If you haven’t leveled up significantly before taking on the monster, this can be a one hit kill attack.
The boss, on the other hand, can perform this punch without his lips burning. If the Festering Tree Spirit breaks free from the arena’s borders and attacks you mouth-first from the ground, this is an alternate variant of this hit.
If it’s a few feet in front of you, just roll out to either side of the mouth and you won’t have trouble getting out of the way.
If the Ulcerated Tree Spirit is glowing all over, that’s the last elemental attack to be aware of. Once this pops up, back away from the boss as he prepares to unleash a massive area attack on you with his magical abilities.
Aside from elemental attacks, the Ulcerated Tree Spirit uses its arms to attack in large, sweeping patterns. Luckily, the attacks are rather sluggish, giving you plenty of time to dodge before they hit you.
Just be careful not to dodge too soon or you’ll get caught up in the attack as the boss swings his arms at you.
Make sure you’re ready to dodge when the boss links his burly hands together. The Ulcerated Tree Spirit is ready to knock down both arms in a single massive punch, and you only need to dodge when the arms are down or else the boss will pursue you.

Where can you find ulcerated tree spirits?
In Elden Ring, players will encounter two Ulcerated Tree Spirits. Each appears in a different realm and has different characteristics, primarily in relation to power. The first Ulcerated Tree Spirit players will encounter is at the Limgrave’s Fringefolk Hero’s Tomb. Players must first traverse the stranded graveyard to get to this dungeon. Inside they will find a goblin statue that requires two Stone Sword Keys to open. Players will then gain access to the Fringefolk Heroes’ Tomb and the Festered Tree Spirit’s Lair. This variant is less powerful than the other, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t challenging. Players will face a more difficult challenge with this Ulcerated Tree Spirit than against Godrick the Grafted.

Ulcerated tree spirit weakness
Fire damage is a debilitating vulnerability for the Ulcerated Tree Spirit. As such, players should use fire damage against this optional boss whenever possible. They can do this by using weapon abilities, spells, and objects that deal fire damage. The quickest way to deal with fire damage is to use Fire Grease or Fire Pots, both of which are easy to craft. Fighting the Ulcerated Tree Spirit with fire will do more damage, making the fight easier.
Ulcerated Tree Spirit reward
Killing the Ulcerated Tree Spirit gives you 15,000 runes as a prize. You’ll also get a Golden Seed and Ashes of the Exiled Knight Oleg, which can be used to increase the number of flasks you carry at a Place of Mercy. The latter prize comes in the form of an Ash Summon and is a heavy blow. After defeating the Ulcerated Tree Spirit, you must use the teleporter to return to the open world of Elden Ring and continue the journey.
