Good Luck Jerry actress Janhvi Kapoor reveals she should feel worthless; says, “I was made to feel like I was getting things I didn’t deserve”
Janhvi Kapoor spoke her heart and said: “During Dhadak and Gunjan, I’ve been made to feel like I got everything on a plate, and I’ve been given things I don’t deserve, which means I’m technically worthless, and I’m given opportunities because of the work my parents did. At the same time, I also felt an overwhelming respect and love for my parents, and I get love and work for that. But the truth is, I love acting and I live for it. I work my ass off to give it back to them for what they did for me and because I do what I do because of their love. And then I realized that I can enjoy my work. I respect the fact that other people missed this opportunity.
“I realized that I can make sure I can do more than my best and give my all. I don’t know how beautiful and talented I am, but I know the hard work I put into all my films,” the actress added.
She also told the podcast hosts about filming with many male members Good luck Jerry, made her realize what privileges actors have. “I played a girl from Bihar, Punjab, in the middle of a gang and I was the only girl in a group of thugs. They all had character, and most of the technicians were also male. They made me comfortable, but it feels weird because there are these very sweaty groups of men whose job it is to intimidate you. I wasn’t allowed back in the van because my character never had such privileges. I suddenly realized that we actors have such privileges when everyone, including lighthearted dadas and others, is working up a sweat on set.”
Janhvi Kapoor also spoke about her preparation for Good Luck Jerry and how she has been working on her diction. “I started training my diction and dialect. The Bihari accent has a definite rhythm and is so “meetha” (cute). Once you get into the rhythm, it’s difficult to get out of it.”
Good luck Jerry is produced by Aanand L Rai and directed by Sidharth Sengupta.
