The Ayan Mukerji direction Brahmastra starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt was released some time ago. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, as well as guest appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, the film was set to be one of the year’s biggest grossers. Live up to expectations Brahmastra which reached over 9000 screens worldwide, has caused quite a stir since its release.
In this cash report we look at the collections of Brahmastra at the end of its second weekend at the Australian box office, comparing the same to previous 2022 releases that have hit screens in that overseas market. Not surprising, Brahmastra which has had the widest release for a Bollywood release in Australia, including in commercial cinema chains and art house cinemas, has emerged as the highest Bollywood gross of 2022 at the Australian box office. At AUD$1,466,180, Brahmastra has surpassed the Aamir Khan performer’s collections Laal Singh Chaddha which grossed AUD$1,277,543 during its theatrical run. In addition, the business of Brahmastra has also managed to overshadow the collections of other releases like The Kashmir Files who raised A$1,146,137, Gangubai Kathiawadi who raised A$1,049,505, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which brought in AUD9,47,255.
Due to the fact that Brahmastra managed that feat at the end of its second straight weekend, the film continues to dominate the box office. In fact, predictions claim that the business of Brahmastra will continue to gain momentum at the Australian box office over the coming weekdays.
